A few weeks back I saw pork belly at my local market. While I wasn't up for the preplanning and time it takes to make bacon, I was still intrigued and wanted to try to do something with it. Much like with ox tails (and that's another post) pork belly responds quite well to braising. So armed with a cast iron dutch oven and ingredients I already had on hand, that's what I did.
Rich, flavorful and fatty (but in a good way) this is definitely a once in a while dish.

Last weekend, after our meal of Filipino food, we also made our way to Kam Man market. This a a large Asian marketplace that has a grocery store, and 5 and Dime type place, and many little stalls with various herbs and knick-nacks.

This Saturday a faithful group of food adventures piled in the car and set out for culinary adventure. After a few wrong turns and GPS SNAFUs we finally arrived at our destination JnJ Turo Turo- a little family style Filipino restaurant in Quincy MA.
In our excitement our table of 5 pretty much ordered every special they has that day. These were brought to our table with a large steam bowl of rice. After some pausing for photographic evidence, we dug in.
As some of you know, I had a grand plan to use felted flowers for my wedding bouquet. This idea seemed fun, crafty, and a perfect way to personalize the wedding ceremony a bit more.
